2017 Wisconsin Amateur Hockey High Performance (HP) Tryouts and Festivals for the 14, 15, 16, and 17

Please read the information below and be ready to register for HP 14 & 15 tryouts on January 11.

 
WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE TRYOUTS, FESTIVALS AND CAMPS?
Players born in 2003, 2002, 2001 or 2000 that are USA citizens and have biological parent(s) or legal guardian(s) who are year around full time residents in the State of Wisconsin.

High Performance 14 and 15 Open Pre Goalie Tryouts for birth years 2003 and 2002
Goaltenders who are born in 2003 and 2002 can register online and compete in one open pre-goalie tryout for their birth year in order to be selected to one open skater tryout

High Performance 14 and 15 Open Skater Tryouts for birth years 2003 and 2002 
Goaltenders born in 2003 or 2002 who are selected from an open pre-goalie tryout and any defensemen or forwards born in 2003 and 2002 can register online and attend one open skater tryout. From this open tryout players are selected to compete in the WAHA HP 14 or 15 Festivals
 
High Performance 14 and 15 Festivals for birth years 2003 and 2002
Goaltenders, defensemen and forwards born in 2003 and 2002 that are selected from the open skater tryouts will compete in the WAHA HP 14 and 15 Festivals
 
High Performance 16 and 17 Festivals for birth years 2001 and 2000 
Goaltenders, defenseman and forwards who are born in 2001 and 2000 will not tryout but are nominated by their High School Section Committee or their Tier 1 Program for consideration in the WAHA Draft.
 
USA Hockey Central District High Performance 14 Camp to be held at Ames Iowa for birth year 2003 
The WAHA HP 14 Festival for birth year 2003 selects players to represent Wisconsin at the USA Hockey Central District Select 14 Camp at Iowa State University in Ames Iowa. No further steps.
 
USA Hockey Central District High Performance 15, 16 and 17 Festivals for birth years 2002, 2001 and 2000
WAHA HP 15, 16 and 17 Festivals select players to represent Wisconsin at the USA Hockey Central District HP 15, 16 and 17 Festival

USA Hockey National Player Development 15, 16 and 17 Camps for birth years 2002, 2001 and 2000
USA Hockey Central District HP 15, 16 and 17 Festivals selects players to attend the USA Hockey National Player Development 15, 16 and 17 Camps

WHAT ARE THE WAHA HIGH PERFORMANCE FESTIVALS FOR?
To be selected to a WAHA State HP Festivals is not only a great honor but a great opportunity for players to be identified by USA Hockey every step of the way leading to a  USA Hockey Central District Player Development HP Festival and ultimately to a USA Hockey District or National Summer Camps.
The four separate WAHA HP Festivals by birth year are listed below showing the opportunities that are possible:

2003 = WAHA HP 14 Festival – selected directly to the USA Hockey Central District HP 14 Camp 
2002 = WAHA HP 15 Festival - USA Hockey Central District HP 15 Festival - USA Hockey Player Development 15 National Summer Camp
2001 = WAHA HP 16 Festival – USA Hockey Central District HP 16 Festival – USA Hockey Player Development 16 National Summer Camp
2000 = WAHA HP 17 Festival - USA Hockey Central District HP 17 Festival – USA Hockey Player Development 17 National Summer Camp

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE WAHA HP 14 and 15 OPEN PRE-GOALTENDER TRYOUTS?
There are four (4) goalie–only tryouts located north, central and south geographically in the state. All tryouts will be for goalies born in 2003 and 2002 and if selected from these tryouts sites they will be assigned by WAHA to teams at the skater tryouts to be held on March 25-26 in Stevens Point

Open HP PRE-GOALIE tryouts to be selected for the HP 14 and 15 Skater Tryouts are as follows:
     Sunday February 19, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Stevens Point (Ice Hawk Arena)
     Wednesday February 22, 7:00 pm -9:00 pm at Naga-Waukee
     Sunday February 26, 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at Sun Prairie
     Sunday February 26, 5:30 pm -7:30 pm at Altoona

  • Register online for one tryout only. NO WALK-INS
  • Tryout fee is $25 for ice time and jersey-NO REFUNDS
  • Use debit card, credit card or a gift card. NO CASH OR CHECKS ACCEPTED. IF NOT USING A DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD PLEASE USE A GIFT VISA CARD TO REGISTER ONLINE
  • Participants registering must have a 2016-17 USA Hockey membership number, if not please register for a new USA Hockey Member Number first (Go to www.usahockey.com)
  • No tryout location changes after registration
  • Goalies have a two-step process to reach a birth year festival: 1. HP Pre-Goalie Tryout selected to a HP Skater Tryout 2.Selected from HP Skater Tryout to HP 14 or 15 Festival
  • Selected Goalies to the HP 14-15 Skater tryouts will be assigned a session and notified by email to register online using a special link. The cost is $45 online and if paid WAHA accepts and confirms the assigned skater to a tryout session. Confirmed goalies must also bring their original pre goalie tryout jersey to the open HP Skater tryout. No Refunds, No Walk-ins, No Cash or Checks Accepted on site and If no credit or debit card is used,  please use a gift card for the exact amount to pay online.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE WAHA HP 14 and 15 OPEN SKATER TRYOUTS?  HOW DO I REGISTER AND WHEN?
  • Participants must have a 2016-17 USA Hockey membership number if not please register for a new member number at the USA Hockey website
  • Go to www.usahockey.com to register for a new USA Hockey member number
  • Register online for tryouts at www.wahahockey.com at the home page beginning January 11th. NO REFUNDS
  • Skaters can only register for one skater tryout session and selected goalies from the open HP Pre-Goalie tryout will be assigned a specific session in the skater tryouts
  • Tryout fee is $70 for Defenseman and Forwards and $45 for selected goalies which includes ice time and a jersey. Goalies will be given a special link to register
  • Use debit card, credit card or a gift card only
  • NO REFUNDS, NO WALK-INS AND NO CASH OR CHECKS ACCEPTED. IF NO DEBT OR CREDIT CARD IS USED, PLEASE USE A VISA GIFT CARD TO REGISTER ONLINE.
  • Each birth year is considered separately in the tryout. Players may only tryout in one session.
  • Registration for each tryout location will be limited by position (D & F), therefore the number of players allowed in the tryout are not unlimited. No exceptions
  • Skaters must try-out for the position (defense or forward) they actually register for - No exceptions
  • Players will be selected from the skater tryouts to the WAHA HP 14 and HP 15 Festivals
  • Those selected to a festivals will be contacted by email to accept the opportunity and must register online for the respective festival using a special link immediately upon notification. The HP Festival cost is $130.  NO REFUNDS, NO WALK-INS, NO CASH OR CHECKS. NO DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD, PLEASE PURCHASE AND USE A VISA GIFT CARD TO REGISTER ONLINE.

WHAT IF YOU ARE SELECTED TO A WAHA HP FESTIVAL?
All goalies, defensemen, and forwards selected to compete in the WAHA State Festivals will be contacted by email. The email will contain on-line registration instructions using a special link. Online player registration and payment confirms the invitation to play in a state festival. The cost to participate is $130. Festival players will keep their jersey and socks. NO REFUNDS, NO WALK-INS AND NO CASH OR CHECKS ACCEPTED. IF NO DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD, PLEASE PURCHASE AND USE A VISA GIFT CARD TO REGISTER ONLINE.

HP FESTIVALS ARE APRIL 29-30 AT CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY CENTER, GREEN BAY
Each birth year state festival will include 4 teams of 17 players (2 goalies, 6 defenseman, and 9 forwards). All birth year festival teams will be selected from the total players that participated in the HP 14 and 15 Skater Tryouts held March 25-26 at Stevens Point. Note that HP 16 and 17 players are drafted by WAHA from the nominations received from the eight High School Section Committees and the Full Season Tier 1 Programs to their respective HP 16 and 17 Festivals.
 
The HP 14 State Festival is April 29-30 at the Cornerstone Community Center in Green Bay for Birth year 2003
Players born in 2003 will compete in the WAHA Select 14 Festival at Green Bay to be selected to the USA Hockey Central District HP 14 Player Development Camp on June 18-23 at Iowa State University in Ames, IA.  Note: 2003 players do not attend the USA Hockey Central District Festival or a USAH National Camp.

HP 15, 16 and 17 Festivals to be held April 29-30 at the Cornerstone Community Center in Green Bay for Birth Years 2002, 2001 and 2000
Players born in 2002, 2001 and 2000 will compete in HP 15, 16 and 17 Festivals at the Cornerstone Community Center in Green Bay to be selected to a USA Hockey Central District HP 15, 16 and 17 Player Development Festival to be held May 12-14 at St. Peters, MO (Rec-Plex).

All WAHA Select Festival teams will have a three game round robin format and selected players for all festivals will be posted on WAHA website www.wahahockey.com with group reporting times after the players receive an email and complete their online registration. Online registration (with a deadline) will confirm the player’s spot in the WAHA festival. NO REFUNDS, NO WALK-INS AND NO CASH OR CHECKS ACCEPTED. IF NO DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD IS USED, PLEASE PURCHASE AND USE A VISA GIFT CARD TO REGISTER ONLINE. The online festival fee is $130.

USA HOCKEY CENTRAL DISTRICT PLAYER DEVELOPMENT HP 15, 16 AND 17 FESTIVALS ARE FOR BIRTH YEARS 2002, 2001 and 2000
Players will be selected from the WAHA HP 15, 16 and 17 Festivals (birth years 2002, 2001 and 2000) will compete in the USA Hockey Central District HP 15, 16 and 17 Player Development Festivals at Rec -Plex, St. Peters, MO on May 12-14. WAHA Festival players selected to attend these tryouts will be posted on the home page at www.centraldistricthockey.org.    

USA HOCKEY CENTRAL DISTRICT HP 14 CAMP AT AMES IOWA FOR BIRTH YEAR 2003
HP 14 players will be selected directly from the WAHA HP 14 State Festival on April 29-30 at the Cornerstone Community Center to compete in the USA Hockey Central District HP 14 Player Development Camp in Ames, IA on June 18-23. Wisconsin players will join players from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. Player evaluations will be kept by USA Hockey.

USA HOCKEY NATIONAL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT 15, 16 and 17 CAMPS FOR BIRTH YEARS 2002, 2001, and 2000
The names of the players chosen to compete in the USA Hockey National HP 15, 16,17 Summer Camps will be posted on www.centraldistricthockey.org following the USA Hockey Central District HP Player Development Festival  at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters, MO on May 12-14. All USA Hockey National Summer Camps will be held at North Town Center at Amherst (Williamsville, NY) as follows: National 15 Camp July 15-19, National 16 Camp July 7-13 and National 17 Camp June 24-30.
 

Players must go through the entire tryout process in Wisconsin to be eligible for the USA Hockey Central District Select 15, 16 and 17 Tryouts, USA Hockey Central District Select 14 Camp and the USA Hockey National Select 15, 16, and 17 Summer Camps

USA Hockey and WAHA reserve the right to make any changes in the player development process with regard to the best interest of the program
